This is what we do every day, but it’s not who we are. At our heart, Ted Brown Music exists to make more music makers.

Ted Brown opened the doors to the first store in downtown Tacoma Washington in 1931. He was passionate about helping people make music. You can imagine between the Great Depression and World War II, their world was in constant turmoil much like ours is today. For more than 90 years Ted Brown Music has helped bring the joy, camaraderie, and relaxation of making music to countless people, while still being family owned.

Whether you dream of becoming the next guitar hero, playing violin with the New York Philharmonic, singing to stadiums full of people, or working in a studio in LA, we have the tools and the know-how to get you on the right path. Your goals aren’t quite so grandiose? That’s okay too! From one to ninety-nine and beyond, music is for everyone.
