From horsepower to heavy machinery. 🐴💪 When Sandi C., Office Administrator out of Casper, Wyoming, reflects on her introduction to construction over 20 years ago, stories of her grandfather’s work are among her favorite memories. She recalls his stories about paving runways at the local military airstrip with a team of horses in the 1920s and his role in the construction of the city she now calls home. Those stories are what motivated her to follow in her grandfather's footsteps and get into the industry. High stakes, ticking clocks and intense competition in real-world industry challenges — better known as the SkillsUSA Minnesota Championship! This year, the RDO store in Dayton, MN, had the incredible opportunity to host the Diesel Technology competition, where more than 50 high school and college students put their skills to the test and showcased their expertise in 13 unique and challenging stations, all designed to replicate real work the students would perform in careers in the equipment industry. "The students who participate in SkillsUSA gain experience outside of the classroom and training that will create future leaders in our industry. The talents they display, supported by industry professionals create a blueprint for future job site success," says Andy Luikens, RDO's Recruiting Program Manager.
