I am moderating a session on Tribal Brownfields Program. We will have a panel of EPA and Tribal Environmental Program managers. Please join us in Tacoma next week.
Akana is the outcome of a merger between two professional services firms – Cooper Zietz Engineers and Cascade Design Professionals – both Native American owned, both leaders in their field. The merger cemented a long-term business relationship, expanded the range of our individual service capabilities, and created opportunities to enter new markets. As one entity, Akana can now serve clients through every stage of a project, from planning through design, construction and commissioning.

We’re thrilled to say that Akana has been recognized as a Leader in Sustainability by Clackamas County! This certificate is awarded to companies that make meaningful achievements in sustainability practices, notably environmental, social, and economic advancements. This recognition is impressive, and it truly would not be possible without the meaningful contributions from leadership, the sustainability committee, and the entire staff. #sustainability
We recently had an open house at our new office space (we moved to a different suite) and it was a blast! Each service division was represented in different spaces, we made a passport for visitors to get stamped as they meandered through while snacking on hors d'oeuvres and adult beverages. Many thanks to everyone that attended, and everyone that helped host. Congrats to Tami Chen at NBBJ Design who walked away with the grand door prize - a Native-designed wool blanket from our friends at Eighth Generation!
What a great and generous idea Whitney M LaMarche!
Group dinners after conferences can confine your interactions to 3-5 people at the table. I decided to open the doors to my own home, and invite my Colleagues into my kitchen for pizza and wine. An informal, but genuine experience to collabrote and allow everyone to be apart of the conversation. Cheers to old and new friends! Enjoy the wine 😄 Tim Oliver Kyela Baird R. I'm excited to announce we are starting work on a new K-12 school for the #Taholah School District on the Washington coast. This will be a signature facility for the new community as the village is relocated out of the tsunami zone onto higher ground on land provided by the #QuinaultIndianNation. The Arcadis Pacific Northwest Education Practice and our consultant team is proud to be assisting this public school district and the Taholah community as they embrace the opportunity to re-imagine their community while being forced to respond #ClimateChange induced flooding from increasing seasonal king tides. The project will start with deep community outreach, engagement, and visioning before actual design commences. #Learning, #EducationalDesign, #K12, #Quinault, #IndigenousLearning, #LandBasedLearning, #CommunityEngagement
