We’re pleased to announce that healthcare veteran Robert Cooke has been appointed as the independent chair of the GenesisCare Australia board as we continue on our mission to achieve the best possible outcomes for patients across the country. Robert is a highly strategic and visionary leader with more than 40 years’ experience in the health industry including executive leadership of publicly listed and privately owned healthcare companies, and management of private and public hospitals in Australia, Asia, and the UK. He joins our high calibre, Australian-based board of directors who will guide our Australian business into our next phase of sustainable growth: Richard Lizzio, Dr Mario Guerrieri, Prof Liz Kenny AO, Shane Solomon, Dean Hawkins, Chris Champion, Jarrad Solomons and Paul Nicholls, with Dr Marie Burke OAM as an alternate director. GenesisCare Australia has launched three new cancer care centres this financial year and plans to open a further three over the next 12 months. More than $40 million p.a. has been earmarked for investment into technology and the expansion of our Australian business in the FY24 and FY25 financial years as we strive to increase access to high-quality cancer care for patients closer to home. GenesisCare is pleased to confirm the successful completion of its global reorganisation program and subsequent emergence from Chapter 11. In June 2023, GenesisCare announced it was entering Chapter 11 proceedings in the US Court in order to restructure its global business. Today, GenesisCare emerges from this process. GenesisCare, outside of the U.S., now consists of three distinct businesses – GenesisCare Australia, GenesisCare U.K., and GenesisCare Spain, each with its own governance and Board of Directors. Each business will be responsible for its own strategy, business priorities and performance. Our new owners will retain certain operations in the U.S. as a separate investment. “GenesisCare has achieved the goals it set out at the beginning of its restructuring process,” said David Young, GenesisCare’s Group Chief Executive Officer. “We exit Chapter 11 as a great business with a compelling future. None of what we have achieved would be possible without the dedication of GenesisCare’s doctors and teammates around the world and the ongoing support of our partners. I am confident that our independently run businesses are strongly positioned to capture the exciting opportunities available to them in the markets they serve, while never losing sight of our core goal: delivering better life outcomes to patients.” GenesisCare UK has continued to focus on providing people undergoing their cancer journey with access to high quality services throughout the period in which the global restructuring exercise has taken place.
