With Washington facing housing shortages, bills like House Bill 1110 have been adopted in order to address the need for affordable housing types and missing middle housing. Missing middle refers to amending single-family zoning to allow middle-density developments like duplexes, courtyard apartments, and townhomes. Pendleton Place is Kitsap County’s first permanent supportive housing complex where people who are battling chronic mental illness and substance abuse disorders can find a place to call their own. With space to house up to 72 adults, this important community facility provides stability and opportunities to engage in treatment, healthcare, and employment services. We recently had the privilege of working with Bassetti Architects on the modernization and addition to the historic Van Asselt School. Designed to support student success and opportunity, the addition includes a new gym and 26 additional classrooms.
